The History of GRM group of schools, known for its academic excellence, dates back to the pre - independence era. The First school of the series came into being in the year 1946 under the patronage of Shri Banwari Lal Agarwal ji, a leading lawyer of his time. He dedicated the school in the name of his father (Late) Rai Sahib Lala Gulab Rai ji. The foundation stone of Shri Gulab Rai School was laid by the first Chief Minister of U.P., Bharat Ratan Pt . Govind Ballabh Pant ji.

The Gulab Rai group started off in a very humble manner with just two rented rooms. Today the group can boast of having four esteemed institutions in the city : Shri Gulab Rai Inter College, Shri Gulab Rai Montessori Sr. Sec . School ( Jr Wing ), its senior Wing at Nainital Road Campus and Shri Gulab Rai Montessori School, Dohra Road Campus. Despite the growth of its infrastructure and facilities, its basic ideals and principles have always remained a source of inspiration.
